Privacy
This site has no accounts, no sign-up form and no newsletter. Here is, exhaustively, what it knows about you.
What the server records
- The web server logs: for each page requested, the IP address, the time, the page and the browser name. They are used to detect failures and abuse (legitimate interest, art. 6-1-f GDPR) and are deleted after 30 days.
- A visit counter, which is just a number: it records neither who nor from where.
Sound level meter
The sound of your microphone is never sent. The microphone only turns on when you press “Start measuring”, and your browser asks for your permission first. The sound is analysed in your browser, as it comes: it is sent neither to our server nor to anyone else. By default, nothing is recorded. If you tick “Record the sound”, the sound (and so the voices it contains) and the measured levels are kept in your browser, on this device only: they are never sent, and you can delete them at any time in the “Recordings” tab, or by clearing the site's data in your browser. The microphone turns off when you press “Stop measuring” or leave the page.
Room acoustics
In the “Acoustics” tool, the microphone only turns on when you press “Measure” (your browser asks for your permission first), and it turns off as soon as the measurement is taken. The sound of a few seconds around your clap (it may contain voices) and the results are kept in your browser, on this device only, so you can listen to them again and recalculate them: they are never sent. You can delete them at any time in the “My measurements” tab, or by clearing the site's data in your browser. Exports (.rapidaudio, WAV and CSV files) are made in your browser and saved on your device; a file you import is read in your browser, never sent.
Spectrum analyser (RTA) · Transfer function · Spectrogram
In the “Spectrum analyser”, “Transfer function” and “Spectrogram” tools, the microphone (or your sound card's input) only turns on when you press “Start” (your browser asks for your permission first), and it turns off when you press “Stop” or leave the page. The sound is analysed in your browser as it arrives: it is neither recorded nor sent. Only what you keep yourself (“Keep”, “Keep a capture”) is stored, in your browser and on this device only: the curve or the image and its levels, never the sound. You can delete it at any time in the “My measurements” tab. The transfer function's generator makes its test signal (pink noise, sweep, sine) in your browser and plays it on the audio output you choose: nothing is downloaded or sent.
Tuner
The sound of your microphone never leaves your device. The microphone turns on as soon as you open the page, or when you press “Start the microphone”; your browser asks for your permission first. The sound is analysed in your browser, as it comes: it is neither recorded nor sent to our server or to anyone else. The microphone turns off when you press “Stop the microphone”, when the page is hidden (it turns back on when you return to it) or when you leave the page.
What your browser keeps
The site keeps in your browser (“local storage”, not a cookie) the display theme, the language, your settings (those of the sound level meter: weightings, duration, country, device, calibration; those of the acoustics tool: bands, listening time, type of room; those of the spectrum analyser, the transfer function and the spectrogram: resolution, averaging, channels, generator, display), the audio input you chose and, if you import one, your microphone's calibration file, and your projects, so you find them again on your next visit; and your measurements — the sound level meter's recordings if you choose to record, the sound and the results of each acoustics measurement, the curves and captures you keep —, until you delete them. These settings never leave your device, are not read by the server, and are erased with your browser's site data. They are strictly necessary for the service you asked for, which is why no consent is requested.
Tuner
The site keeps in your browser (“local storage”, not a cookie) the display theme and your tuner settings (mode, instrument, tuning, reference pitch), so you find them again on your next visit. These settings never leave your device, are not read by the server, and are erased with your browser's site data. They are strictly necessary for the service you asked for, which is why no consent is requested.
Metronome
The site keeps in your browser (“local storage”, not a cookie) the display theme and your metronome settings (tempo, sound, feel, beats per bar, volume), so you find them again on your next visit. These settings never leave your device, are not read by the server, and are erased with your browser's site data. They are strictly necessary for the service you asked for, which is why no consent is requested.
